I’ve heard this joke before. The line at the end was changed. Probably in order for it to be a clean joke. In the way it is presented above. It makes more sense to label this as a conversation rather than a joke,

Jokes usually aren’t supposed to make you laugh your guts out. Most jokes are meant to make you have to think and eventually get the joke and usually find a little humor in it. There is nothing wrong with this joke at all. I didn’t laugh but it did have meaning and slite humor to it.
